The basis of the collection is formed by choice instruments from the personal possessions of the Wittelsbach Electors of the 17th and 18th Century. The property of the former court music directorship, valuable gifts and new acquisitions further enriched the collection with rare instruments.

Baroque and Rococo

You will find art chamber (Kunstkammer) pieces of 17th Century and magnificent witnesses of princely representation from the epoch of the Sun King. From the 18th Century, as religious art in Bavaria experienced a peak, the Rococo sculptures of Johann Baptist Straub and Ignaz Günther are particularly worth highlighting.
