The conservation department in the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum is one of the largest and most modern institutions of this type in Germany. In the year 2000 our conservators, working in eight specialist areas, took up residence in a new building with studios and workshops. We share this building with the Technological University of Munich’s Faculty for Conservation, Art Technology and Conservation Science. The new structure has provided the conservation department with over 5000 square metres of working space fully equipped with the most up-to-date technology.
