Herzog Franz von Bayern celebrate his 90th birthday in July 2023.
For this anniversary the Bavarian National Museum is exhibiting nine glass objects from its former Art Nouveau collection. Thanks to generous sponsors, they were purchased a few years ago. The nine glasses symbolise the nine decades of the life of the head of the House of Wittelsbach. And since they represent the floral trend of Art Nouveau, they are a special birthday greeting to the jubilarian.
The small selection in the staircase in front of the Studiensaal offers an overview of the most important French, Bohemian and American glass manufacturers around 1900. At the same time, it represents a small impression of our Art Nouveau collection, which is currently closed for renovation.
