This scene in which an amorous god approaches a beautiful mortal in the guise of a ram may be a representation of the shepherd god Pan with Luna, or Neptune and Theophane, daughter of Bisaltis. The pronounced sensuality of the representation and the genre chosen, that of the small-scale marble relief with a single mythological nude, are typical of Venetian Renaissance art.
