It was only through treachery that a second porcelain manufactory was founded in Vienna in 1718, just eight years after the first European porcelain manufactory was founded in Meissen. The private entrepreneur Claudius Innocentius Du Paquier soon succeeded in producing exquisite porcelain. From Saxony, attempts were made to spy on and destroy the unexpected competition.
