Would you like to take a look behind the scenes of the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum? Or would you rather try your hand at art yourself? Our wide-ranging programme of events includes a broad spectrum of activities for all ages and interests. Join us on our journey through art and cultural history – from Late Antiquity to the present day.

Available guided tours

Upon request, groups can book guided tours choosing from a range of topics in both German and English. Please book at least eight days in advance.

Birthday parties for children

Have you always wanted to put on a knight's helmet, feel the weight of chain armour or try on a Baroque dress? For birthdays and family events, we invite you and your guests on exciting guided tours allowing you to touch and try out materials and fabrics, have a costume party, go on a treasure hunt or discover new skills in the museum workshop. The tours are led by trained staff of the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum and the Museum Education Centre Munich.

Select from the following themes:

  • A festive birthday treasure hunt
  • Garments and masquerades
  • Discover precious jewellery or design your own bead jewellery
  • White gold – plates, cups, table ornaments (also at Lustheim Palace, Meissen Porcelain Collection)
  • Lion safari at the museum

  • A musical journey through the museum: Discover and try it out for yourself!

Price: 130 euros for 120 minutes, 170 euros vor 180 minutes plus material costs 1.00 Euro to 4.00 Euro per object (depending on the topic)

Childcare centres and schools

In the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum the Museum Education Centre (Museumspädagogisches Zentrum MPZ) organises events for school classes and day-care centres as well as inclusion and integration groups. The offer includes also additional training for educational staff and teachers.

Kultursalon+

A program in German for the Generation Plus of the Beisheim-Stiftung.

The free events in German are aimed specifically at people who are financially limited and/or who would like morecontact with others. Therefore, we invite you to a guided tour with personal exchange.

Winckelmann Academy of Art History

The courses offered by the Winckelmann Academy of Art History require neither A-levels nor prior academic knowledge. Without any pressure to perform, students can expand their knowledge and, in the process, discover new interests and skills.

Senior Citizens' Academy of the Münchner Bildungswerk
The lecture series of the Senior Citizens' Academy is aimed at older people who would like to broaden their horizons. Lectures and guided tours through the collections of the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum introduce visitors to art and cultural history.
