The Bayerisches Nationalmuseum´s collection of furniture from the Late Middle Ages to Art Nouveau is among the most important in Germany. Showpieces from the leading manufacturing centres of the 17th and 18th centuries, such as Paris, Augsburg, Antwerp, Florence, Vienna and Munich, came to the Museum from the palaces of the Bavarian royal family.
A separate room is dedicated to the finest pieces by Abraham and David Roentgen, the famous German furniture makers. In addition to courtly furniture, the collection also includes furniture ensembles that represent the elevated rural home styles.
