Re-opening Schloss Obernzell

20
Jul

German guided tour.

Following the completion of barrier-free access to the Obernzell Castle branch museum in 2020, the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum is now setting new thematic priorities. Since July 17, the “Bavarian Danube Region Museum” invites visitors to explore the cultural and historical significance of the Danube for Bavaria. With an innovative exhibition concept, the museum at Schloss Obernzell becomes the stage for captivating stories centered around this remarkable river. Carefully selected and often surprising objects illustrate one key message: Bavaria is a land shaped by Danube culture.
There could hardly be a more fitting location – the magnificent Renaissance castle lies directly on the Danube and becomes part of the exhibition itself. As the largest “exhibit,” it tells its own story, one deeply entwined with the river’s history.
