Itinerant Musicians and their Instruments

Itinerant gleemen were outcasts but still needed by society on certain occasions. Roaming musicians were for long time related to liberty, pureness and vitality, which however rarely matched the thruth. It was rather hardship that forced them out of poor to wealthier regions, where they would hardly earn more than the travelling costs.
Many of their typical instruments had once stood in high reputation in sacral music, at courts or with wealthy citizens, but severely declined later. Likewise, a comeback of certain instruments was possible, like during the pastoral fashion of courtly rococo.
The studio-exhibition presents instruments like bagpipes, hurdy-gurdies and mechanical instruments, together with figures and decorated objects from exquisitly painted fans to gaming-pieces in relief.
