Ceramics

The ceramic collection at the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum is world renowned due to its outstanding assembly of early porcelain (see Porcelain), Italian majolica and German faience and pottery.
The spectrum ranges from the extraordinary Renaissance ceremonial service of Duke Albrecht V of Bavaria created in Faenza with its mythological depictions, over original Baroque faience trompe l’oeil dishes in the shape of animals and vegetables, to the rural domestic tableware from the southern German pottery centres.
