Gothic

The Bayerisches Nationalmuseum exhibits within an imposing sequence of exhibition spaces one of the largest and most important collections of Late Medieval sculpture from the German-speaking countries. A popular highlight are the outstanding works of the sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider.
Visitors can also expect a high-quality collection of Old Bavarian paintings from the 14th to 16th centuries. The interior of the splendidly painted guild room of the Augsburg weavers is particularly noteworthy. The section also includes some of the most beautiful Gothic cabinets, key works of ivory art, noteable glass paintings and distinguished examples of textile art.
