This little equestrian monument on a splendid Boulle-work base shows the Prince Elector Max Emanuel in ancient dress, albeit sporting the curled wig fashionable in his day and the Order of the Golden Fleece. His mount is leaping over a vanquished Turk, the Koran and an embodiment of heresy; he is presented both as victorious over a political adversary and as the defender of the Christian faith against Islam. Victoria holds the laurel wreath over his head. The two reliefs on the base depict his victories over the Turks at Mohacz and Belgrade in 1687 and 1688.
