Maximilian I had a passion for hunting and expressed it fittingly by acquiring costly weapons and accessories. The wheel-lock gun and game bag commissioned by the ruler are among the greatest pieces ever made by the Munich court workshops. The cut-steel decoration on the firearm is extremely precise and is matched by the raised embroidery on the pouch, executed in gold and silver thread, which lends the scrollwork a lavish elegance.
