This plate was made for a dessert service commissioned in 1810 by Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria with copies of paintings in the Royal Gallery (the painting is now in Washington). Capturing them in durable porcelain was supposed to preserve them for posterity. Flaws in the coloured parts show that this plate was badly fired.
